WAIPOUA OR HUAKI FOREST (PARTICULARS RELATIVE TO TIMBER IN, AND CROWN LANDS ON THE BORDERS OF).

Jleturn to an Order of the Hotise of Hepresentativcs datid the 31st August, 1911. Ordered, " That there be laid before this House a roturn showing—(l) the quantities of kauri and other marketable timbers in the Waipoua or Huaki Forest; (2) the area of land occupied by the said forest; and (3) the total area of Crown lands lying unoccupied on the borders of the forest-area."—(Mr. Stallwobthy.)

Waipoua or Huaki Forest, Auckland Land District. (1.) Quantities of Kauri and other Marketable Timbers within Waipoua or Httaki Forest. Kauri, approximately 65,000,000fc. The forest also contains kahikatea, totara, and rimu, but there has been no official estimate made of the quantities. (2.) Area of Land occupied by the said Forest. 22,650 acres. (3.) Area of Grown Land lying unoccupied on the Borders of the Forest-area. 17,508 acres. Of this area, there is approximately 2,000 acres containing 8,000,000 ft. of kauri, valued at £9,000. Wμ. C.
