May it please Youe Excellency,— We have the honour to submit for your consideration an amendment and correction of our report upon what is known as the Orakei Native Eeserve, as set out in Parliamentary Paper G.-Ip, 1908. It appears from subsequent information and inquiries made that the returns as supplied to us by the Native Department were inaccurate as to dates and terms of some of the leases. On page 4 of the said parliamentary paper there is an error in the last paragraph, and we recommend that after the word " namely," all the words to and including the figures " 1920 " be struck out, and the following substituted: " Orakei If, of 23 acres 1 rood, to Thomas Coates, for twenty-one years from 12th August, 1919." On page 5 of the said paper, in the summary therein shown, it will be necessary to amend same to coincide with the amended schedules as attached to this report. The summary will thus read : — a. c. p. 1. For Maori occupation ... ... ... 85 021 2. Leases to be validated ... ... ... 495 318 3. Area for cutting up and settlement ... 62 235 Total ... ... ... 643 2 34 Schedules 2 and 3 of the said parliamentary paper are recommended to be cancelled, and the amended schedules 2 and 3 attached hereto substituted.
