CIVIL SERVANTS AND OTHER GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES: TOTAL NUMBER RECEIVING PAY ON 31st MARCH, 1904.
Return to an Order of the House of Representatives dated the 30th June, 1904. Ordered, " That there be laid before this House a return showing—(a) the total number of Civil servants in the employ of the Crown on the 31st March, 1904 ; (b) the total number of temporary clerks in the employ of the Crown on the 31st March, 1904 ; and (c) the total number of persons other than Civil servants, temporary clerks, and schoolteachers, but including men employed on the public works, in receipt of pay from the Crown on the 31st March, 1904." —(Mr. Herdman.)
