1899. NEW ZEALAND.

EDUCATION: SCHOLARS ATTENDING HIGH SCHOOLS.

Return to an Order of the House of Representatives, dated 26th July, 1899. Ordered, " That there be laid before this House a return showing—(l) The number of scholars attending the high schools of the oolony who had not passed the Fourth Standard ; (2) the number who had not passed the Third Standard; and (3) the number who had not passed the Second Standard of the syllabus of our primary sohools at the time of their admission into the high sohools: this return to be for the year ending the 31st December, 1898."— (Mr. Mebedith.)
