REPORTING DEBATES AND PRINTING COMMITTEE (REPORT OF, RELATIVE TO HANSARD REPORTS).
Brought up 20th July, 1893, and ordered to be printed.
The Committee have the honour to report that, after hearing the complaints and statements of members in regard to defects in Hansard reports, they have arrived at the following resolution: — "That, accepting the explanation of the Chief Eeporter to the effect that excisions of irrelevant matter from members' speeches have hitherto been made under instructions and at his discretion, it is now desirable that in future no question of relevancy should warrant the entire omission of any substantial portion of a member's speech." General complaints have been referred to the Chief Eeporter, with instructions to ascertain and obviate any cause under his control. Eugene O'Conor, 20th July, 1893. Chairman.
