Return to an Order of the House of Representatives dated 6th July, 1892. Ordered, " That there be laid before this House a return showing as nearly as possible, and in tabular form, the valuations upon properties, the number of holdings, and the population of each charitable-aid district, the amount contributed by each district, either by rate or in any other way, for hospital or charitable aid, together with the subsidy paid in each case from the consolidated revenue." —(Sir. Note.— In the above return the valuation is the property-tax valuation of 1888, the population is the census of April, 1891, and the amounts contributed ana subsidy paid are for the year ended olst March, 1892. The holdings are those of over one acre in extent, and are from the census of 1891.
