GOVERNOR'S ORDERS UNDER "THE CUSTOMS AND EXCISE DUTIES ACT, 1888" (COPIES OF).
Presented to both Houses of the General Assembly pursuant to " The Customs and Excise Duties Act, 1888."
Duty to be levied on Ground Olive-stones.
Onslow, Governor. In exercise of the powers in me for that purpose vested by " The Customs and Excise Duties Act, 1888," I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby direct that, from and after the date hereof, there shall be levied upon olive-stones, ground, which is apparently a substitute for a dutiable article—viz., pepper—and which possesses properties in the whole or in part which can be used for a similar purpose as such dutiable article, a duty of fourpence the pound. As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this eleventh day of May, one thousand eight hundred and ninety. No. 137.] Edwin Mitchelson.
Duty to be levied upon Paint ground in Turpentine.
Onslow, Governor. In exercise of the powers in me for that purpose vested by " The Customs and Excise Duties Act, 1888," I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby direct that, from and after the date hereof, there shall be levied upon paint ground in turpentine, which is apparently a substitute for a dutiable article—namely, paint ground in oil—and which possesses properties in the whole or in part which can be used for a similar purpose as such dutiable article, a duty of two shillings the hundredweight.
