COST OF ADMINISTERING THE HOSPITALS AND CHARITABLE INSTITUTIONS ACT.

Return to an Order of the House of Representatives, dated 25th May, 1888. Ordered, " That a return be laid before this House showing the cost in each year of administering the Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act, from the date of its coming into operation up to the 31st March last, in each of the hospital and charitable-aid districts in the colony ; such return to show separately amounts received from the Government, contributor}'local authorities, and voluntary contributions and bequests'; also to show percentage of cost on the population, and percentage of cost on the amount expended in each district."—(Mr. Jones.)
