THE PERMANENT MILITIA FORCE (RETURN SHOWING NUMBER AND COST OF).
Return to an Order of the House of Representatives, dated 11th May, 1887. Ordered, " That a return be made of persons at the present time enrolled in the Permanent Militia Poreo of this -colony : (1) The number of commissioned officers and their ranks; (2) The number of non-commissioned officers; (3) the, number of privates ; (4) the cost per head per annum of the above ranks respectively."—(Mr. Pitzhebbeet.)
I. Number of Commissioned Officers and their Ranks.
Cost per head per annum, £271 13s. 4d. 11. Number of non-commissioned officers, 49. Cost per head per annum, £127 7s. 3d. 111. Number of privates, gunners, &c, 286. Cost per head per annum, £106 17s.
