CHANGE OF PURPOSES OF RESERVES (PAPERS RELATIVE TO).

Presented to both Souses of the General Assembly, in pursuance of Sections 7 and 8 of " The Public Reserves Act Amendment Act, 1878." [Gazetted 25th September, 2nd, 9th, and 16th October, 1879.] Changing the Purpose of a Reserve. Hercules Eobinson, Governor. Whereas by "The Public Eeserves Act Amendment Act, 1878," it is, amongst other things, enacted that the Governor may declare his intention to make, change, exchange, or alter the dedication of any public reserve now or hereafter vested in Her Majesty or the Governor for any of the purposes named in Part 11. of the Schedule to the said Act, whether the same be granted or not; and, in the case of any reserves made under the authority of section one hundred and forty-four of "The Land Act, 1877," if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be expedient to change the purpose of such reserves or any part thereof from the purpose or presumed purpose for which it was set apart to any other purpose, or if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be expedient to exchange any of the land comprised in such reserve for other land of equal value, to be dedicated to one or more purposes named in the said Part 11., the Governor may, by notice in the Gazette, declare his intention to make such change, exchange, or dedication, as the case may be, and in such notice declare the manner and terms in which the same is intended to be so made: Now, therefore, I, Sir Hercules George Eobert Eobinson, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by " The Public Eeserves Act Amendment Act, 1878," aforesaid, change the specific purposes of the reserves described in the first column of the said Schedule hereto to the specific purpose set opposite such description in the second column of the said Schedule, and such land shall henceforth be deemed to be reserved and set apart for such last-mentioned specific purpose, and no other.

Description and Purpose of Original Reserve. Area of which the Purpose is intended to be Changed. Intended Purpose. All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Canterbury, in the Colony of New Zealand, situate in the Fown of Timaru, containing two (2) acres, jiore or less, being Town Sections Nos. L31,132,133, 134, 135, 136, 147, and 148 ; Sections Nos. 131, 132,133,134, 135, and L3G, containing one (1) rood each, having i frontage of six chains upon North Street; Sections Nos. 147 and 148, con;aining one (1) rood each, having a "rontage of two chains upon Heaton Street; and numbered 203 (in red) on ;he map of the Chief Surveyor of the Provincial District of Canterbury, setting mt and describing the Town of Timaru iforesaid. As a site for Government jffices, lock-up, gaol, and public pound. All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Canterbury, being part of Reserve No. 203 (in red), containing by admeasurement nine (9) perches, more or less, being part of Section numbered 132 on the map of the Town of Timaru. Bounded towards the North by North Street, twenty-three (23) links ; towards the East by Section numbered 131, two hundred and fifty (250) links; towards the South by Section numbered 144, twenty-three (23) links; and towards the West by the other part of Section numbered 132, two hundred and fifty (250) links : as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the Survey Office, Christchurch.
