NEW ZEALAND PRODUCE MISSION TO EAST INDIES PROPOSAL FOR BARTER (United Press Assn.-—Elec. Tel Copyright) (Received Nov. 21. 3.15 p.m.) BATAVIA, Nov. 20 Mr H. M. Rushworth and Mr W". Robinson, chairman and secretary respectively of the Auckland Farmers’ Association, are making an investigation trip to the Netherlands East Indies on their own initiative, to find new markets for New Zealand products, also eventually to effect a barter agreement changing meat and fruit for coffee, kapoc, spices, etc. They told pressmen that New Zealand can offer large quantities of fruit which are now partly rotting on the trees, while in the East Indies and Malaya good apples are almost unobtainable. They claimed that shipping space between the East Indies and New Zealand is not used in the most efficient way. More cargo could be shipped without using more ships. Results of their purely informal talks are hopeful, but a final agreement could only be reached through the medium of both Governments.
