STRONG GERMAN PRESSURE
ATTACKS FRUSTRATED BY RUSSIANS WITHDRAWAL TO STRONG POSITIONS TROOPS FIGHT MAGNIFICENT REARGUARD ACTION LONDON, Nov. 20 The Russians have frustrated another determined and large-scale German attack against Moscow, and, despite terrific pressure, have succeeded in keeping their main defence lines intact. The enemy is still exerting heavy pressure in the Kalinin and Tula sectors, hut has not been able to secure the badly-required break-through. The Russians admit that their forces have retired in one sector of the Crimea to more strategically-placed defensive positions, the troops fighting a magnificent rearguard action that enabled the new lines to be strongly fortified. Around Sebastopol, however, the Russians are still holding firmly.
