Thursday At the monthly meeting of the borough council last night a report was presented by the engineer in connection with the prospects of an emergency water supply, as requested by the Government authoriThe Works Committee recommended that flic petition from Thornton Road residents asking that the sealing of this road be continued lo Maclean Street be received. and the petitioners advised that it was regretted the work could not be itt« s recommendation that the Vogel Street rubbish tip be closed and a new site chosen was discussed at length. The re-oprning of the Karapiro pit was suggested and it was finally agreed that I scussed with the health inspector on the site, the Vogel biree pi; now being condemned by the Health Department The council decided to inspect a site near ti e gasworks;, approval of which as a miniature rifle range had been asked by the To Awamutu-Cambridgc Rifle Club.
