“LILAC TIME” MELOQIES MR J. T. BATTERSBY'S PUPILS The Winter Show Hall was too small to accommodate all those seeking admittance last night, when the | pupils of Mr J. T. Battersby gave a concert. Playle, E. Choat, C. Marshall, A. Carter; quintette, •• Hark, Hark, The Lark,” Eric Choat, Josie Bonnar, Kay Murphy, Una Bonnar, Elaine Wood; duet, “ The Golden Song,” Heiga Peterson and Dick Playle; finale, Act. 1, Eric Choat, Josie Bonnar, June Choat and Chorus; song, “ Serenade,” Pat Herlihy; chorus, “ When Skies Are Blue ”; duet, " The Flower,” Dulcle Battersby and Eric Choat; finale, Act 2, Dulcie Battersby, Dick Playle, Eric Choat; chorus, “ Strolling Through the Morning Air "; song, ” My Sweetest Song of All,” Eric Choat; duet, “ When The Lilac Bloom Uncloses,” Tavi Jury and Pat Herlihy; finale, Act 2, Dick Playle and Chorus. “ Lilac Time ” was preceded by well-rendered individual items as follows:—Soprano solo, “ Gather Ye Rosebuds,” Phyllis Lambarth; soprano solo, “ To A Miniature,” Helen Watson; soprano solo, " Ave Maria" (Schubert), Leona McLaughlin; baritone solo, “ For England,” Allan Carter; soprano solo, ” Break o’ Day," Helen McKinnon; mezzo-soprano solo, “ Ritournelle ” (Chaminade), Heiga Peterson; tenor solo, “ Where'er You Walk” (Handel), Eric Choat; soprano solo, “ Flower Song ” (from “ Faust ”), Tavi Jury; duet, " In The Springtime,” Dot Gardner and Norma Webber; soprano solo, “ The Swallows,” June Choat; contralto solo, “ Softly Awakes My Heart,” Elaine Wood; tenor solo, “My Prayer,” Cliff. Marshall; soprano solo, “ Romance De Mignon,” Kay Murphy; baritone solo, " None But The Lonely Heart,” Pat Herlihy; soprano solo, “ Villanelle ” (Del Acqua), Josie Bonnar.

Mr Battersby provided the accompaniments for the individual items and conducted the orchestra very successfully. The orchestra comprised Mrs H. L. Seifert, Misses Cecilia McLachlan and Margaret Wilson, Messrs A. McLachlan, Morton Kelly, E. H. Quill, T. Vautier, A. E. Savage, H. Worth, J. Hardiman, Ron Parker and W. Harrison.
