OBITUARY

MR J. C. WATSON FORMER LABOUR PREMIER (United Press Assn. —Elec. T el. Copyrignt) SYDNEY, Nov. 18 The death has occurred of Mr John Christian Watson, first Labour Prime Minister of Australia. He was a pioneer of the trade union movement in Australia. He spent his youth in New Zealand where he became a compositor, eventually settling in Sydney. The House of Representatives at Canberra suspended its sitting this afternoon out of respect to Mr Watson’s memory.
