CHRISTMAS REMITTANCES
SENDING MONEY TO TROOPS ONLY A FEW DAYS LEFT (By Telegrapn. —Press Association) WELLINGTON, Wednesday “Only a few days remain for relatives and friends of members of the New Zealand Armed Forces serving overseas to remit money to them for the coming Christmas season. The Army, Navy and Air Departmenis have issued several intimations that bank receipts should be forwarded not later than Monday next. “This will ensure as far us possible the availability for the soldier’s use before Christmas of the money transmitted,” said the Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones. He also drew attention to the fact that the maximum amount that could be remitted to a soldier in each remittance year was £3O (New Zealand currency). In cases where that sum had been exceeded . there would be no option but to return the amount to the sender.
