CONSERVING ELECTRICITY
EDUCATION OF CHILDREN The view that as it was considered children had a great deal to do with the switching on and off of lights and the plugging in ol' radiators and , other appliances they should be instructed in the conservation of electricity as a war effort was contained in a letter received from the secretary of the Electric Power Boards and Supply Authorities Association of New Zealand at the monthly meeting of the Central Waikato Electric Power Board in Hamilton today. It was suggested that a competition should oe inaugurated among the schools in each supply authority’s area, and prizes awarded to the three best essays on the subject “Ways and Means ol Saving Electricity.” Alter discussion it was decided to inform the association that the board had already taken steps to instruct the public in the saving of electricity, and these had proved satisfactory.
