BACON BUYERS ABSENT DROP IN MARKET OF PIGS STOCK SALE AT FRANKTON' A substantial decrease in the prices paid for baconers and porkers was the main feature of the weekly stock sale at the Frankton yards yesterday, quotations being down 20s a head for baconors and 7s a head for porkers. Reasons for the sharp decline were the absence of export buying interests | and the considerably reduced penj ning. | The entry of ox beef was an average I one but prices showed aji easing tendency and me market was down a little. Musi : ol‘ the offering comprised medium quality, middle weight beasts, although heavy bullocks sold to £l3 ss. prime bullock.made to £IU 10s, while light sorts were obtained for from £7 IDs to £8 Ms. In the cow and heifer beef section prices were again very nrm with late rates maintained and in some cases bettered. Wine re as last week the best price was £iu 2s, a heifer yesterday realised ten guineas. This price however, was considerably in advance of the remainder ol the market, the next best realisation being £O. Prime entries made from £7 lus lu £8 5s and fat descriptions from £0 5s lu £7 ss. Sale of Sheep A comparatively light entry or rat sheep was auctioned, but except in the case of heavy wethers of which there were only a few pens on oiler, the market was on a par with recent sellings. Fat ewes alii acted keen competition and as much as is Od more than last week was paid. Many of the ewes offered, however, were ol poor quality, and for the unllnished sons from t»s to 12s was obtained. The demand for baconers was very poor and from 03s to 72s was paid for baconers. Porkers realised 35s to 555, in comparison wiin from 42s to 02s la>t Tuesday. Individual Consignments Top-priced bullock was a Heavy sort from Mr John Scott, Nevvstead, which realised £l3 ss. Messrs Wintere Bros., Horsham Downs, were the vendors of a heifer which made £to 10s, while cows from the same vendors realised from £8 17s 6d to £O. A line of iieirers sold on account of Mr J. Riddell, Taupiri, made £9. Wethers rrom Messrs Blackett Bros, Te Kowhai, made 27s od. 20s 3d and 245. A line rrom the Carruth Est., Te Puke, sold at 2’os. Mr K.
