FARMS PURCHASED
SOLDIER SETTLEMENTS PROPERTIES NEAR PUTARURU (Special to Times) WELLINGTON, Tuesday Eight properties totalling 17.832 acres have been bought by the Government in the Auckland Province at a total cost of £86,571, for the future settlement of returned soldiers, according to a statement made by the Minister of Lands, the Hon. F, Langstone, in an interview today. The average price is less than £5 per acre. The Minister said that in no instance had the compulsion clause of the Small Farms Amendment Act been operated, all the properties having been acquired by negotiation, l The areas purchased include 1246 acres near Te Kopuru.
