STRENGTHENING OF BASE (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) NEW YORK, March 18 The Brazilian Minister of Marine, A.dmiral Aristides Guilhem, inspecting the naval base at Natal, near the aerial hopping-off point for Africa, announced that his Government intended to strengthen the base in a way consistent with its strategic importance, making the region the sentinel of Brazil’s defence system. Admiral Guilhem said he visualised a chain of powerful bases from Rio Grande do Sul to Para. It is significant that the United States cruiser Vincennes as visiting the locality.
