IMPROVING THE BREED TRANSFER OF BULLS Qualified support was given the proposal of the New Zealand Jersey Cattle Breeders’ Association on the suggested basis governing transfer of registered pedigree Jersey Dulls, at a meeting of members oi the Hamilton Jersey Cattle Club t.oaay. The scheme was explained by Mr C. G. C. Dermer, president oi the association, and a long discussion ensued. Ultimately, on the motion of Messrs F. S. Veale and S. Dale, the following motion was carrieu.— “That while in accord with the principles of the scheme as explained by Mr Dermer, the proposal be referred back to the executive council for consideration of some scheme providing also for a method by which bulls could qualify on type (in conjunction with production) for the ‘Elite’ class.” Another recommendation adopted was that C. 8.8. bulls with a specified number of V.H.C. and H.C. daughters, as agreed upon bv the council, be elevated to a higher position. Ihe meeting also favoured a postal ballot to decide the matter of thi new basis.
