WELLINGTON, Wednesday The observance of odd one-day holidays at a time when the country is being called on lor an “all-in war effort was condemned by the Wellington Chamber of Commerce when it decided to refer the matter to the Associated Chambers of Commerce with a view to representations to the Government to have superfluous holidays eliminated. Speakers made it clear that they did not object, to the existence of such holidays in normal times but considered that at present they constituted a hindrance to the prosecution of the country’s war effort.
