FREE MEDICAL BENEFITS?

(To the Editor) Sir, —The socialists are always giving the community something, especially at election times. Prior to the last election it was Social Security. Today we are to receive a sop in the way of “free” medical benefits. A young man of 22 receiving £5 a week pays the State £26 per annum if he works 50 weeks. In five years he pays £l3O. Assuming he is ill for three months during that period, it is absurd to think that his illness costs £l3O. The socialists ask for co-operation for operating these benefits, but the totalitarian States, which are socialistic, make co-operation control and regimentation. It seems to the ordinary elector that we are on dangerous ground.—l am, etc., THE WIZARD OF OZ. Hamilton, March 17.
