LARGE BACON DECREASE
MARKET AT FRANKTON SMALL SHEEP YARDING A feature of the stock sale at Frankton Junction today was the substantial decrease in the market rates of bacon, prices for baccviers being 20s a head lower than last week. Pork was also much cheaper, reductions of 7s a head being recorded. A considerably reduced entry of fat sheep v/as on offer, very few pens of extra prime wethers being auctioned. Prices generally were on a par with last week’s quotations. An average entry of beef cattle was not in such keen demand as in recent weeks. Quotations: —Heavy prime bullocks, £l2 to £l3 15s; medium, £9 19s to £lO 7s 6d; heavy prime cows and heifers, £8 10s to £lO 10s; prime, £7 10s to £B. Sheep.—Extra prime wethers, 24s 6d to 27s 3d; fat. 23s to 24s 3d; fat ewes, 13s 4d to 15s 6d.
Pigs.—Baconers, 63s to 725; porkers, 35s to 555.
