CAMPAIGN IN VAIN POSITION IN DUNEDIN (By Telegraph.—Press Association) DUNEDIN, Tuesday A rather Gilbertian situation has developed in that after a nation-wide appeal to buy dessert apples, this fruit is not available. Retailers, who launched the campaign at the request of the Marketing Division and booked large orders find they cannot fill them. One broker stated that as a result of the appeal he could have sold a thousand cases of Cox’s Orange in 10 minutes yesterday if available. The local branch of the Marketing Division stated that the crop of Cox’s Orange had not realised expectations but Jonathans were due in about a fortnight.
