AITKEN SCORES 106
FIRST-INNINGS WIN DEFEAT OF CLAUDELANDS As was expected, Old Boys had no trouble in beating Claudelands’ first-innings score of 152, the final wicket falling with the total at 305, of which A. G. Aitken had scored 106. Aitken and Clough continued Old Boys’ innings, both batsmen, Clough in particular, using vigorous methods on the weak bowling. The partnership produced over 100 runs , when Clough was caught near the boundary by Hunt. L. Higginson did not get going, but Choat was responsible for a fine display, employing a wide variety of scoring strokes. Shortly after Aitken had reached his century he was bowled by Hemi, but W. Higginson carried the score along at a merry pace. He compiled his 52 runs in very quick time before be was dismissed. Good innings by Hope and Scobie brought Old Boys’ score to 305.
