MEDIUM BATTERY
NOW BELOW STRENGTH VACANCIES FOR RECRUITS The 7th Medium Battery, New Zealand Artillery, is acting on the latest Gazette notifications and Army Regulations to make an appeal for volunteers. The officer commanding, Major F. M. Yendell, says that the Battery is now permitted to enrol as volunteers married men between the ages of 19 and- 44 years who have not more than three dependents and single men aged 19 years and those over 41 years and under 46. There are, he says, over 50 vacancies in the Battery, due in large part to the fact that so many men from this territorial unit have enrolled in the Air Force or the Expeditionary Force. It is hoped to attract volunteers within the next week, and preferably those living in or near Hamilton, so that they may undertake the training course. Prospective volunteers should send in their names, addresses and any other particulars to Artillery Headquarters, Knox Street, Hamilton, and they will promptly be notified by letter as to the training they will be required to carry out. It will then be competent for the prospective recruit to decide whether he will go on with his intention to volunteer. Not having committed himself, an inquirer can withdraw’ his application if he finds he is unable to fulfil the obligations as to training.
