DOUBLE ACCIDENT
KNOCKED DOWN BY STEER THROWN ON TO CAR A most unusual accident befell Mr William Bolton, aged about 50, a public works employee, of Morrinsville, on Saturday evening while he was directing traffic returning from the Paeroa races. Mr Bolton was knocked down by a steer from the top of a 9ft. bank and landed, together with the beast, on a passing motor-car. The injured man was attended by Dr. G. Craig and removed to the Waikato Hospital suffering from a fractured clavicle.
Conscience -Money The Secretary to the Treasury (Mr B. C. Ashwin) acknowledges in the last New Zealand Gazette the receipt of the following amounts forwarded as conscience money to the Government: —£3 Is to the Customs Department: £2, 10s. and £3 to the Land and Income Tax Department; 16s. ss. 10s and 5s to the Railway Department; £l, 10s, £3 and two amounts uf £3 to the Treasury.
