11 RAIDERS DOWN
ATTACKS ON SCOTLAND BOMBS OVER WIDE AREA (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, Marcn 14 Successive waves of raiders were over an area of western Scotland early this morning in the lengthiest and heaviest raid that the district has experienced during the war. Tons of incendiary and high explosive bombs were scattered over a wide area. However, early reports are that the casualties were surprisingly light. It is officially stated that during the night 11 raiders were brougm down by British night fighters. The British Broadcasting Corporation quotes the Air Ministry as stating that enemy activity was on a large scale over England and Scotland. There was a neavy and prolonged attack on Clydeside. Some industrial buildings and many houses were damaged. Several fires were started, but they were all brought under control by the early hours of the morning.
