March 16 Mr William Green, president of the American Federation of Labour, today approved of Mr Roosevelt’s plan for the creation of a SuperMediation Board of 11 members, designed to prevent strikes ana controversies developing in the national defence programme. The Mediation Board would comprise three representatives from the public, lour from industry, and four irom labour. Mr Green said Mr Roosevelt had agreed to the Federation’s two chief qualifications—(l) the board to be clothed with complete mediation poweis, and (2) the board’s plans tor arbitration should be voluntary and in no way compulsory.
