Even the city lights seemed to twinkle like •* ft tiny glow-worms and around them the little moth people were hav- 1+ H ing such jolly games of hide-and-seek. h ft Peter thinks that it will not be very long before it is time for 3 bedtime stories in front of the warm golden flames again and very. $ U very soon the Circle People will have to start thinking out new »| games and competitions to keep those rascals, the Twins, out of £• tf mischief. p 3 It seems only two minutes since the New Year dawned bright .. and rosy and full of exciting promises, and now here we are with 3 two whole months torn from our calendars and lost amongst the £• 3 days of “ Once-upon-a-time ! ” Peter winders, as he writes this % g letter to you all, just how many little people have found this year 3 better than the last and how many of those rosy-hued promises have ;• 3 become really and truly true. % 3 The Circle People have been searching for the very first signs \ 3 of Lady Autumn’s visit and although Peter has found lots and lots l* of deep scarlet berries, the leaves are still green and there are still ]• so many Summer blooms flow r ering too. Deep and pale pinks, % )• mauves, gold, petunia and myriads of other shades are to be found •l in Peter’s phlox bed and the golden rod is waving its feathery g i fronds in profusion. ;• f And now lots of love to you all, % i From yours, g - Watching for Autumn glories, XJ I |
