St. Patrick’s Concert The St. Patrick’s concert to be held in Hamilton on Monday night will doubtless attract the usual “ capacity house,” for a very entertaining programme has been arranged. There will be items by an orchestra, choral items and exercises by the school choirs, dances by Miss Ailsa Docherty’s pupils, a violin solo by Mr Martin Richardson, songs by Misses Jean McLeod, Connie McLachlan, Dorothy Salter, the Harmonic Four, Mr Patrick Herlihy, a recitation by Kevin Brown, and an action song by Neil Dove. Oscar Natzke in Wellington
Oscar Natzke, bass, and his associates, Keqneth Neate, tenor, and Henri Penn, pianist, are having a very successful tour. Tonight they will appear at the Wellington Town Hall. The tour will probably end next month, when Mr Natzke will leave for America and Mr Neate for Canada or America, while Mr Penn will go back to Australia to appear with Szigeti, the great violinist. “ I have always wanted to see New Zealand and confirm for myself the stories I have heard of its beauty,” said Mr Neate, to a Napier interviewer. “ I have not been disappointed, and in all my travels I do not think 1 have seen a finer walk than the one along the Napier seafront. I have been particularly interested in Napier, and I have always wanted to meet the people who were strong enough in their beliefs to rebuild a stricken city.”
Choir Entertains Oscar Natzke Oscar Natzke (bass), Kenneth Neate (tenor) and Henri Penn (pianist) were entertained by members of the Male Choir at Hastings this week. At the request of the visitors the choir rendered four items, “ Drink to Me Only with Thine Eyes,” “ Deep River,” “ Goin’ Home,” and a Lullaby by Brahms.
Irish Tenor in Wellington Dan Foley, the Irish tenor, who is well known in Hamilton, will sing at the St. Patrick’s concert in Wellington on Monday night. A choir of 500 boys’ voices will also be heard.
