TWO DROWNED
CAPSIZE OF DINGHY TRAGEDY AT NIGHT (By Telegraph.—Press Association) INVERCARGILL, Friday Two Bluff men were drowned at Preservation Inlet late on Wednesday night, through a dinghy capsizing in a heavy wind. News of the accident reached the Bluff early this morning when the fishing vessel, Aurora, arrived in port with the bodies of the men. The victims were: Esmond Ericson, single, aged 21. Frank Huia Moss, single, aged 34. The accident occurred about 11 o’clock on Wednesday night. Messrs Ericson, Moss and Paul McQuarrie had been ashore from the Aurora, on which they are employed, to visit a gold prospector and wiien returning to the vessel the dinghy capsized. Mr McQuarrie was rescued but the other two were drowned. The body of Mr Ericson was not recovered until dragging operations were undertaken yesterday. An inquest was opened today for identification purposes and then adjourned.
