HEAVY AIR ATTACKS
SEVERAL TOWNS BOMBED HOSPITAL, patients killed (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, Marpll 12 For the third successive night the south coast was subjected to heavy air attacks. High explosives and incendiaries destroyed or damaged many dwellings and business premises. In one town a man and his wife and cousin in an upstairs room were killed, while the man’s blind mother, aged 90 years, in the next room, escaped. Bombs damaged a hospital, a cinema and a cemetery. Fighters went up in brilliant moon- . light and engaged raiders who were attacking another south-coast town. A continuous stream of raiders swept over a north-west inland town last night. Fire-watchers were most effective in putting out numerous small fires. Two hospitals were damaged, also a sanatorium, in which one patient was killed and six were injured. The West Midlands experienced the worst raid for some time. Incendaries were scattered over a wide area, causing many fires. A German communique states that bombers last night attacked Birmingham, Southampton, London and Portsmouth, also aerodromes in the South of England.
