FLOODED STREETS
STORM WATER TROUBLE REMEDIES SUGGESTED The complaints made after the heavy rains recently that storm water had accumulated in such volume as to make it impossible for the water channels to cope with it, thus causing an overflow on to private premises, had an echo at the Hamilton Borough Council meeting last night, when a report was tabled by Mr R. Worley, in which he said that three major downpours had occurred during the period from December 14 to January 17. Localities referred to where damage and inconvenience had occurred through the flooding were Ward Street, corner of Ward Street and Seddon Road, Collingwood Street, Power Board Comer, corner George and O’Neill Streets, River Road at Thames Street comer (on January 17 only). Mill Street-Victoria Street area, and Victoria Street North and No. 1 Bridge. The engineer stated remedial work in Ward Street would cost about £I6OO, but in view of the railway lowering scheme it might be desirable to defer that outlay. Some relief could be given at an expenditure of about £45. and that would form part of the railway scheme when undertaken. Mr Lafferty urged that the aUerua-
