UNUSUAL FEATURES
APPEAL FROM SERVICE CALLED IN TWO BALLOTS (Special to Times) CAMBRIDGE, Thursday Unusual features were disclosed in the case of a Cambridge district appellant before the Hamilton District Man-Power Committee. The reservist said he had volunteered for overseas service, and actually underwent three operations to become fit. He was then told that he could not leave his farm so he married, and settled down to break in more land. He was then called in the Territorial ballot, and later in an overseas ballot. At one stage he had arranged with his father for the latter to take over the property and use it for grazing dry stock; but another son was leaving home to join the Air Force, and this had necessitated a change of plans. The committee decided to exempt appellant from service until May 31, when the position will be reviewed.
