EXTENSION OF BUS SERVICE (Special to Times) T E AWAMUTU, Wednesday. Mr. G. B. Melrose presided at the monthly meeting- of the Te Awamutu District Hign School Committee and there were present also Messrs G. Donaldson, C. Old, J. A. Johnson and L. Day. It was decided to ask the Auckland Education Board lor permission to expend the balance or moneys in hand lor drainage on improvements to the school grounds, mainly the laying down of basketball courts, live committee would supply the labour. Application Is to be made to the board tor an extension or the Mangapiko bus service to Pirongia >o as to relieve the long travelling by Te Bore and Pirongia j pupils. The chairman pointed out that the extension would mean that the bus would cover a further eight miles dally. The parents at Te Bore were prepared to convoy tho children from Mr G. Finn's house to Pirongia. In reporting on recent athletic activities, itio headmaster read a letter from the headmaster of the Te Kuiti High School m which reference was made to the excellent deportment and sportsmanship of the local children. The chairman complimented me headmaster and the school on their splendid showing. It was decided to hold a Paddy’s Market in Te Awamutu on Thursday, April 24, with the approval or the Borough Council, and a sub-committee was appointed to meet the committee, or the Primary School with a view to making tho effort a combined
