WOMEN’S DIVISION
TATUANUI BRANCH The Tatuanui branch of the Women’s Division of the FarnaersMJnion has resumed its monthly meetings. Two new members were welcomed and enrolled. The president gave a report on the Piako executive committee meeting, held at Morrinsville, recently, and stated that it was decided to ask all members to register with the Women’s National Corps and to slate in what capacity they could best serve in the event of an emergency. This organisation will he shortly officially operating in Morrinsvillr. Four letters received from soldiers
serving overseas were read, each expressing thanks for the parcels sent bv the organisation. It was decided to hold the annual birthday picnic at Te Aroha. The roll call, “ Uses of paper,” brought many useful suggestions. Mesdames L. McDonald and R. | Frampton gave a useful and interesting demonstration on smocking, and they were accorded a hearty vote of j thanks. I Members were shown a display bf ! gifts Mrs Hardy had received from her soldier sons serving in the Mid- ! die East. These included a wonderful piece of artistic work, “The Lord’s ! TE AWAMUTU BRANCH There was a good attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the Te Awamutu branch of the Women’s Division held in the Parish Hall, Te Awamutu. Invitations from Korakonui and Pukeatua branches to be present at their respective birthday parties were read with interest. It was decided to ask Mr Olsen, of Hamilton, to speak on “Adult Education,” at the March meeting, this being a subject under discussion throughout all the branc'nes. It was 101 l that members would gain much useful information l'rcm Mr Olsen’s talk. Mrs Godfrey gave a*: interesting
talk on her visit to the Rest Home Garden Party at Awapuni and intimated that £l5O was raised towards upkeep of the Home. At present the Home was full and had a long waiting list. An appeal was made for summer clothes and blankets for the Patriotic Guild, parcels to be left at the Red Cross Depot. A general knowledge test was won by Mrs C. North, wnile competitions were won as follows:—Tomato relish, Mrs Donaldson !, Mrs Nicholson senr.. 2: flower, Mrs Alf. Kay; fruit. Mrs*Grigg; vegetables, Mrs Grigg; shrub, Mrs Alf. Kay. A dainty afternoon tea was served by Ngahape and Cross Roads members. NGARI A BRANCH The Ngarua branch of the Wo-
men's Division of the Farmers' Union held its monthly meeting recently in the local hall when Mk W. Scott presided over a good attendance. It was decided to send a letter of cheer to Mrs A. Sealey, who is in hospital. It was also decided to send a cake to each soldier who has left the district, the cost to be paid out of the branch funds. Mrs Scott gave a detailed report on the executive meeting held in Morrinsville recently. It was decided that the branch's birthday celebration take the form of a social afternoon. Competitions held during the afternoon resulted as follow*;—Best home-made jam, Miss E. King J. Mrs P. W. Davies 2, Mis F. Hayward 3; afternoon tea, Mrs Pikctt 1. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses: Mc.damcs I. Priest and W. Harris, ana Misses E. Sealey and J. lianas.
