THEATRE BURNED

TWELVE FIREMEN KILLED TWENTY OTHERS INJURED BURIED UNDER DEBRIS (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received March 11, 3.15 p.m.) BROCKTON (Massa.), March 10 The roof of the Strand Theatre, weighted with snow and ice and weakened by flames, crashed down to-day upon firemen, burying them beneath tons of steel and concrete. At least twelve firemen were killed and twenty injured, five of them critically. The authorities fear that two or three others were buried in the debris. The death toll of firemen is said by the national fire protection office at Boston to be the greatest in New England history. All those dead or injured were among firemen who were battling the flames, which were fed by highly inflammable moving picture film, from the balcony of the theatre when the roof crashed down.
