Copyright) (Received March 11, 3.15 p.m.) MELBOURNE, March 11 Comprehensive defence plans in the Pacific are being considered at a series of conferences beginning today in Melbourne between Australian and New Zealand defence chiefs. The New Zealand representatives are Major-General Sir John Duigan (Army), Commodore W. E. Parry (Navy) and Air-Commodore H. W. Saunders (Air). The talks, which are secret, are the first of their kind since the war began. The best methods of ensuring Australian—New Zealand co-operation are being discussed. The results will be co-ordinated with those of other defence talks at Singapore and other Pacific bases.
