PROBLEMS IN PACIFIC DISCUSSIONS IN AUSTRALIA NEW ZEALAND CHIEFS 'United Press Assn. —Eiec. Tel. Copyright) (Received March 11, 3.15 p.m.) MELBOURNE, March 11 Comprehensive defence plans in the Pacific are being considered at a series of conferences beginning today in Melbourne between Australian and New Zealand defence chiefs. The New Zealand representatives are Major-General Sir John Duigan (Army), Commodore W. E. Parry (Navy) and Air-Commodore H. W. Saunders (Air). The talks, which are secret, are the first of their kind since the war began. The best methods of ensuring Australian—New Zealand co-operation are being discussed. The results will be co-ordinated with those of other defence talks at Singapore and other Pacific bases.
