MORRINSVILLE SHOW RECORD ENTRIES OF STOCK IMPRESSIVE CATTLE DISPLAY IMPOSING ARRAY OF HORSES (By Tel.—Times Special Reporter) MORRINSVILLE, Saturday Surpassing previous high standards and setting new levels for both quality and number of entries, the 22nd annual show of the Morrinsville Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held at the Recreation Grounds today. From every viewpoint the show was a decided success, the very favourable weather and the large crowds assisting to make the exhibition one of the most outstanding in the history of the association. Undoubtedly the show was one of the best held in the Auckland province this season as far as stock entries were concerned. The number of dairy cattle entries compared more than favourably with any show held to date this season in the Dominion, the Jersey cattle entries, which were a record for the show, being described by the judge as the most impressive he had encountered this year. In all cattle sections the number of entries was particularly satisfying and the various judges all had something complimentary to say in regard to the strong support that local and outside breeders had given to the show. The fat cattle entries comprised one of the highlights of the exhibition, the 40 entries in the National Chilled Beef Championship comprising probably one of the best classes of its kind yet seen in the Dominion. Another very satisfactory aspect of the show was the big number of entries forward in the special export pig classes, the export porker and baconer classes being very keenly contested. Horses Were Outstanding: The horse section was unquestionably outstanding. Light and heavy sorts were exhibited in imposing numbers and in the ring the standard of the jumping competitions was creditably high. Keen interest was taken in the champion hunter class, which was won by Mr M. E. Roan’s well-known Glencoe, ridden by Mr J. Ransteacl, with Miss Pirrit’s Eclipse, ridden by Mr Carl Hinton, as runner-up. Mr J. R. Wilson’s D’Artagnan, ridden by the owner, was third. In all the competitions the riding was good, the many keenly contested events providing excellent entertainment for the large crowds. All of Waikato’s well-known hunters competed, the general showing in the hunter classes being probably the best yet seen at Morrinsville. Keen competition was again evident in the fat sheep sections, the judge stating that the entries were particularly creditable to the district for this time of the year.
