CHARGE IN WELLINGTON (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Monday Charged with conducting a meeting which had been prohibited by the police under the Emergency Regulations, Arthur Herbert Carman, a bookseller, aged 39, appeared before Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court today. The offence was alleged to have taken place last Friday. • Applying for a remand until March 19, the police said Carman had been released on bail and as he had undertaken not to conduct similar meetings in the meantime, there was no objection to the extension of bail. The remand was granted.
