OBITUARY
MR E. J. AISLABIE (Special to Times) TE AROHA, Saturday The death occurred in Te Aroha yesterday of Mr Edward Joshua Aislabie, aged 57 years. The son of Mr and Mrs J. H. Aislabie, a prominent Gisborne family, Mr Aislabie, after his marriage to Miss Nora Webb, of Gisborne, took up land in Te Aroha about 3C years ago. A few years later he became stock agent for Dalgety’s until 1921, when he started a butchering business in partnership with Mr E. J. Bygrave. A member of the Te Aroha Jockey Club for many years, Mr Aislabie celebrated his 25th anniversary as clerk of the course at the meeting held last month. He was a keen huntsman and was responsible for forming a Te Aroha branch of the Waikato Hunt Club. With several other sportsmen he founded the Waihou Polo Club, which is one of the leading clubs of the Waikato. For many years he has acted as a referee as well as being an active member of the club. He is survived by his widow, two sons, Mr J. Aislabie, of Morrinsville, and Mr P. Aislabie. who is overseas with the 2nd N.Z.E.F., and a daughter, Miss Mollie Aislabie, of Auckland. DR. VV. C. Copyright) NEW YORK, March 7 A message l'rom Cambridge, Massachusetts, says the death has occurred of Dr. Wothington Chauncey Ford, author, economist and authority on American historical documents. His death occurred on board a ship homeward bound from Lisbon.
