DOMINION CONFERENCE APPRECIATION OF SERVICES (By Telegraph.—Press Association) BLENHEIM, Monday The 62nd annual conference of the United Fire Brigades’ Association opened this morning, when 134 brigades were represented. Subjects on the order paper include emergency precautions and auxiliary fire* service. The conference was attended today by Mr J. W. Heenan, Undersecretary for Internal Affairs, and Mr Girling Butcher, Inspector of Fire Brigades. Delegates were accorded an official reception when admiration of the work of firemen was expressed by several speakers. A telegram was read from the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry, emphasising the importance of the services given by firemen and expressing appreciation of the fine work achieved. The conference will occupy two and possibly three days.
