ALL SCHOOLCHILDREN GOVERNMENT DECISION STEPS IN EMERGENCY (By Telegraph.—Press AMOClitlon) DANNEVIRKE, Friday Speaking at Norsewood yesterday at the opening of a new primary school, the Minister of Education, Mr H. G. R. Mason, said that consequent on the war’s effect on the shipping position, the Government had decided to distribute apples free to the pupils at all schools. It was not intended to take the place of free milk. Instructions were going out to all schools almost immediately with reference to the steps to be taken should a state of emergency arise. He added that people should wait for detailed instructions. He did not want them rushing into the construction of trenches in achool grounds or doing any such work without the proper instructions. "It may be that the war is not so close to our shores at all, but we will take certain elementary precautions," he added.
