MORE MEN IN UNIFORM OLD BOYS HONOUR SOLDIERS “This is the fifth occasion on which members of the association have gathered to farewell old boys of the school who have joined the armed forces,” said Mr A. G. Ward, president of the Hamilton High School Old Boys’ Association, at a function in the Commercial Hotel lounge yesterday afternoon. “On each occasion the gathering of civilians has been noticeably less due to the large numbers of our members who are either overseas or in camp,” continued Mr Ward. “Several of those in uniform here today were in civilian clothes at our last gathering.” Mr Ward stated that the association was very proud of the large numbers of members who had immediately answered their country’s call, and he extended to the guests of honour the very best wishes of ail old boys. He asked those who were leaving to tell the other old boys overseas when they met that the association was following their progress with interest and to convey to them its best wishes. The toast, “God’s Speed and a Safe Return," was enthusiastically honoured. Upholding Traditions “You are nobly upholding the traditions of the school,” said Mr H. D. Tail, the principal. “Although we were only a young school during the iasl war our boys fully played their part. We know that you will do equally as well as the generation before you. “The school is proud of the attitude you have adopted and will follow with keen interest your progress in the Empire’s cause.” Mr lait added that he had no doubt at all that the old boys would do whatever task was alloted them without fear or favour and would add lustre to the already proud record of the school and associati m. He wished them all the best of good luck and a safe and speedy return.
