PHILATELIC SOCIETY
INTEREST MAINTAINED SERIES OF LECTURES Mr M. C. Gudex presided last evening over a good attendance at the monthly meeting of the Waikato Philatelic Society. Apologies were received from a number of members unable to be present. Mr C. R. Coates notified his retirement as sales superintendent owing to pressure of business. A lengthy report on the formation of the junior branch was presented and the action of the committee in purchasing books was confirmed. Mr Gudex presented the competition, Mr Edsall and Miss Madeley winning, but both having secured prizes recently Mr H. H. Wilson secured the prize with A. F. Sherson and J. Hammond taking the junior honour. A humorous paper by Canon Harvie on the 189 a pictorial set was read. Arrangements were made for the following to give lectures at future meetings: Mrs Whittaker, Miss Madeley, Messrs G. Goodwin, J. Vokes, and F. Tonar. After supper sales stamps were made, the total transaction being considerable.
