GARDEN PARTY PRESBYTERIAN LADIES’ GUILD A successful and enjoyable garden party, in aid of the Presbyterian Ladies’ Guild, was held at the residence of Mrs R. Shand, Huntly, in beautiful weather. Various competitions were enjoyed and the winners were Mrs H. Adams, Mrs D. Fisher, Mrs J. Tears, Mrs J. Gray, Miss Sharrard, Mrs H. Morgan, and Mrs H. Rayner. A dainty afternoon tea was provided. CROQUET MATCH WAIKATO CHALLENGE CUP A challenge match for the Lower Waikato Challenge Cup was played on the Huntly croquet lawns between Waerenga (the challengers) and Huntly (holders). The local women were the winners of the match by 104 points to 61. The results were as follows, the Huntly players being mentioned first:— Mesdames Green and Chisholm v. Mesdames W. Carter and Jefferies, 26—21, 26—8; Mesdames Luke and Davies v. Mesdames Taylor and Chambers, 26—12, 26—20. ENJOYABLE AFTERNOON VISITORS ENTERTAINED A most enjoyable afternoon was spent recently, when Mesdames Hawken (handicapper for the South Auckland Croquet Association), Kibblewhite (referee) and Dillicar (Hamilton), and Mesdames ParkerHill and Dukes (Auckland) visited the Huntly lawns and were entertained to lunch by the members of the club. There was a good attendance of members and three ladies were present from Te Kauwhata. The president of the club, Mrs T. Chisholm, extended a welcome to the visiting ladies and thanked them for their attendance. Mrs Hawken presented an engraved silver cup to Mrs Chisholm for interclub play between the Lower Waikato clubs. Mrs Chisholm, in accepting it on behalf of the clubs, thanked the donor for the cup. After lunch, the visiting ladies played an exhibition game, and ‘later joined in friendly games with the local players. Among those present were:—Mesdames Chisholm, Dean, Watkins, Speirs, Luke, Ruston, Carlton, Hogg, Burgess, Fenney, Hall, Schoen, Bruce (Huntly), Boot (Waerenga), Symes, Keith, Muir (Te Kauwhata), and Miss _Boot (Waerenga).
