SOCIAL CREDIT
HAMILTON COUNCIL PRESIDENT RE-ELECTED The Hamilton district council of the New Zealand Social Credit Movement has elected the following officers for the year 1941:—President, Mr R. G. Young (Gordonton), re-elected; vicepresidents, Messrs C. A. Magner (To Kowhai) and A. J. Swanney (Whatawhata); secretary, Mrs P. H. Webber (Silverdale); treasurer, Mr L. Ward (Hamilton); auditor, Mr J. H. Penniket (Hamilton). The annual report presented to the annual meeting referred to the proposal to put paid organisers on the road to build up membership and the financial resources of the movement. The suggestion that “ the present financial system will not survice the war and that a better system will evolve,” was condemned as fallacious. There were two proposals before the people today, Social Credit, designed to give maximum personal freedom, and Federal Union, which proposed to still further restrict individual liberty by removing control of “ our own money, our armed forces, and our relations with other countries.”
