SHOW STOCK PARADE

HIGH STANDARDS JUDGES PRAISE QUALITY j IMPRESSIVE DISPLAY OF HORSES i I (By Telegraph.—Special to Times) CAMBRIDGE, Wednesday An impressive parade of stock of all classes that reflected in striking fashion the farming wealth of the Cambridge district passed through the judging rings today at the 38th annual show of the Waikato Central Agricultural Association. In every way the show was an outstanding success and it portrayed as nothing else could the very considerable progress of the district during the past few years. In the dairy cattle and horse sections the entries showed an increase and the support accorded other sections also highly satis- ! factory. The quality of entries was very fav- 1 ourably commented upon by the various judges who agreed that standwere entertained with a variety of events during the day. Always a feature of the Cambridge

| show, the riding competitions again ! provided ore of the highlights of the I exhibition this year. The jumping ! events were keenly contested by J prominent hunters from all parts of , the province and it was not an easy ! task for the judge to select the wini ning competitors. Two trotting events ' added to the day’s enjoyment. Quality Dairy Cattle | The four dairy breeds were all well represented in the pedigree dairy catI tie section. Jerseys taking pride of place for number of entries. The Jersey judge, Mr D. O’Sullivan, of Inglewood, said that he had been particularly pleased with the quality of the entries. When breed, type and character were considered, he said, the display of Jerseys compared very favourably with other shows. The standard of the different classes was a reflection of the comparatively recent importation of high-class stack. The Friesian breed was again well to the fore. Mr S. W. Mitchell, of Te Puke, who judged this section, said that entries were large and quality ! was very good. Milking Shorthorns i were also on parade in large numbers, ards generally had been well mainj tained and were comparable with any other show in the Dominion. Ideal weather attracted large crowds who many prominent breeders being represented by strong teams. The

judge, Mr M. Finlayson, of Waipu, said that the quality was equal to anything he had seen this season. The cattle were a credit to the breeders and had been exhibited in splendid condition. Keen competition also marked the Ayrshire section where the entries | also compared favourably with previous years. The general standard was perhaps the best yet seen in a Waikato showring. Three of the most prominent breeders in the province, Messrs W. C. Wallace, P. Bremer and P. Beverley, were represented by high-class stock ana practically shared the prize money. Both male and female championships were won oy Mr Wallace. CHAMPIONSHIP AWARDS Hack—Mr. W. J. llalltday’s Buccaneer. Hunter—Mr J. B. Wilson's D'Artagnan. Bony—!•;. iioullnan Ciyuesdale Entire—Mr J.
